Teachers: Win a FREE trip to Antarctica this November with Robert Swan, aboard the 2041 International Antarctic Treaty Expedition

NativeEnergy, is partnering with Broadway Books and 2041 to give one deserving educator the opportunity to win a trip to Antarctica. The trip will be awarded to the teacher or professor who writes the most compelling essay about “why I want to visit Antarctica this November, and how I plan to bring the skills I learn back to my classroom.” 2041 was founded by Robert Swan, with a mission of engaging and inspiring the next generation of leaders to take responsibility, to be sustainable, and create action in policy development. The contest coincides with the publication of Robert Swan’s forthcoming book, ANTARCTICA 2041: My Quest to Save the Earth's Last Wilderness, available October 2009.

The winner will join Robert Swan, the first person to walk to both the North and South Poles, on his International Antarctic Treaty Expedition, Nov. 16-30, 2009. On the trip, 80 teachers, students, corporate leaders, and experts will gain first-hand knowledge and observe Antarctica’s fragile ecosystems. The lucky winner will start their trip in Ushuaia, Argentina, where they will first take part in a briefing on what to expect. And from there, depart to Antarctica and see remarkable places such as: the Drake Passage, King George Island, the Antarctic Peninsula, and many other breathtaking destinations. Become inspired by this once-in-a-lifetime experience and return ready to show your students how they can help fight climate change.

The GRAND PRIZE WINNER will receive roundtrip airfare, passage on the ‘Clipper Adventurer,’ and meals for the trip, as described in the trip itinerary. In addition, the winner will get a signed copy of ANTARCTICA 2041. NativeEnergy is donating carbon offsets to cover the winner’s trip-related emissions, plus he or she will receive a personal carbon footprint consultation. See carbon offset details at Approximate Retail Value of the grand prize is $28,000.
