Welcome Shadowcliff visitors!
Shadowcliff is concerned about its own carbon emissions and our impact on climate change. Reducing the amount of energy we use is an important step in the right direction so we use solar lights in our parking areas, compact fluorescent bulbs throughout the property, motion detectors and timing devices and encourage our guests to be conscious of opportunities for energy reduction. But it isn't nearly enough. So we have decided to do something that helps to counterbalance or partially compensate for our impacts. Beginning in 2008 we will purchase carbon offsets from NativeEnergy.
By working with NativeEnergy, we can help finance and build new clean and renewable energy projects that help create sustainable economic benefits for Native Americans, Alaska Native villages and other local communities, and that help America's family farmers compete with agribusiness. These projects will displace electricity from fossil fuels and reduce other greenhouse gas emissions making up for the CO2 emissions we will generate at Shadowcliff in serving our guests
We invite Shadowcliff guests and other friends to calculate the emissions created by traveling to Shadowcliff and to consider offsetting them by helping to build new renewable energy projects.
