why carbon offsets

Carbon offsets are the only practical way that you can reduce your global warming pollution to zero.

Reducing the amount of energy we use is critically important in the effort to stop global warming, and we can help you.

But it isn't nearly enough.

Even if you drive a hybrid car, use compact fluorescent lighting and take every energy saving step you can, you are still going to use some energy and create CO2 pollution. There's only one way to do something about the carbon-based pollution you can't avoid creating - help reduce CO2 pollution another way.

Offset - n. 1. something that counterbalances; a compensating equivalent.

With NativeEnergy, you can help finance and build new clean and renewable energy projects that help create sustainable economic benefits for Native Americans, Alaska Native villages and other local communities, and that help America's family farmers compete with agribusiness.  These projects will displace electricity from fossil fuels and reduce other greenhouse gas emissions on your behalf, making up for the CO2 emissions you can't avoid.

In addition, please consider changes you can make so you don't use as much energy, so you don't have to offset as much next time!
